Important Information - Please read before ordering:
- Sold by the each but designed to be installed in "pairs"
- Make sure to order one Left Hand model AND one Right Hand model. The stay shown in the image above is the right hand model
- Make sure to do the weight calculation before ordering
- All weight calculation results are based on using two stays per lid (a Left Hand and a Right Hand)
- Heavy duty soft-down lid stay for toy boxes, bench seat lids, etc.
- May be used on both overlay lids and inset installed lids (click on links below for install pages)
- This product is used with hinges (sold separately):
- Works with butt hinges, piano hinges and concealed European style hinges
- See install pages below for installation information on these different types of hinges
- For a lid thickness and box wall thickness of 3/4" on an "inset" lid you can use the following:
- Hinges: Use our SKU 701154
- Mounting plates: Use our SKU 652296
- Screws: Use our SKU 652360 (two screws per hinge and two screws per mounting plate)
- Use a 3/16" (5 mm) bore distance and it will give you a 2 mm reveal or gap between the lid edge and side panel
- The bore distance is the distance from the edge of the lid to the edge of the 35 mm hinge hole
- For a lid thickness and box wall thickness of 3/4" on an "overlay" lid you can use the following:
- Hinges: Use our SKU 701152
- Mounting plates: Use our SKU 652296
- Screws: Use our SKU 652360 (two screws per hinge and two screws per mounting plate)
- Use a 5/16" or 8 mm bore distance to achieve a full overlay of the 3/4" thick box wall.
- The bore distance is the distance from the edge of the lid to the edge of the 35mm hinge hole
- Available in 3 weight rated sizes:
- Light Duty (121 to 173 inch/pound weight rating per pair)
- Medium Duty (173 to 216 inch/pound weight rating per pair)
- Heavy Duty (216 to 260 inch/pound weight rating per pair)
- Weight Calculation (Torque):
- Door Height (DH) is the front-to-back (or height) measurement of the lid in inches (for example 24.5")
- Door Weight (DW) is in measured in pounds (lbs) (for example 10.3 lbs)
- The formula is DH x DW x 1/2 = Inch/Pounds
- Match your result with the proper size above
- Using our example measurements 24.5 x 10.3 x 0.5 = 126.18 Inch/Pounds
- For 126.18 Inch/Pounds you would use a pair (one Left Hand and one Right Hand) of the Light Duty Stays

The delivery time depends on how far you live from our San Diego warehouse. Generally, your order will reach you in 1 to 5 business days. Shipments do not move on weekends and holidays.

When the unit of measure says “pair” that means two hinges. Usually you need one pair of hinges per door. When the unit of measure says “each” that means one hinge. You would usually order 2 “each” hinges per door.
I want to replace my hinges. How do I make sure the screw holes on the new hinge match the screw holes on the old hinge so I do not have to redrill the holes?

Unfortunately, hinge manufacturers have never standardized the location of their screw hole patterns. Every manufacturer puts their screw holes in a slightly different place. This means that when you replace hinges you will almost certainly have to do some filling and redrilling. The exception to this is Architectural door hinges which are built to a standardized template for each size hinge.
