Description
Description
- Spring-loaded chain bolt for gates, doors, etc.
- The chain bolt may be used on the top or bottom of the gate or door or on both the top and bottom (if two are purchased).
- Chain bolt provides a method of securing a gate or door in the open (or closed) position.
- For doors hung in a jamb with a header, consider using a Chain Bolt at the header, and a Cane Bolt at the bottom of the door. Using this application, gravity will hold the header chain in place, and the Cane Bolt is solid, so unlike chain, it will not sag or drape over the chain strap.
- The bolt is made of 5/8" square steel. It is spring-loaded loaded and it is beveled on the latching end. The bevel allows the bolt to automatically retract and then lock when the bolt hits the strike.
- The strike is also beveled to help the bolt retract.
- An 18" chain is attached. The chain is used to release the bolt from the strike, thereby freeing the gate or door.
Dimensions of chain bolt:
- Throw of bolt is 7/8".
- Mounting plate measures 2" x 7-3/8".
- Projection is 3/4"

Some of your hinges are sold by the each and some sell by the pair. What is the difference?
When the unit of measure says “pair” that means two hinges. Usually you need one pair of hinges per door. When the unit of measure says “each” that means one hinge. You would usually order 2 “each” hinges per door.

I want to replace my hinges. How do I make sure the screw holes on the new hinge match the screw holes on the old hinge so I do not have to redrill the holes?
Unfortunately, hinge manufacturers have never standardized the location of their screw hole patterns. Every manufacturer puts their screw holes in a slightly different place. This means that when you replace hinges you will almost certainly have to do some filling and redrilling. The exception to this is Architectural door hinges which are built to a standardized template for each size hinge.
