Description
Description
- The upright pintle is part of our pintle system of gate hinges.
- This product will work with a strap or screw eye.
- When ordering the other part of this hinge make sure that the pintle sizes match. For example, if you order an upright pintle with a 5/8" pintle your bolt must have a 5/8" pintle.
- Both the 1/2" and 5/8" upright pintle use two 3/8" lag screws per upright (not included).
- The weight ratings listed are for one hinge. For example, if the listed weight rating is 100 lbs and you use two hinges then your two hinges would be rated at 200 lbs.
- Note: When ordering Pintle Hinge System components, please note that listed sizes, like a 3/4" pintle diameter, are nominal, not exact dimensions. Utilize our nominal sizes to match straps and pintles seamlessly. If you're attempting to match our products with items you already own based on pintle diameter or other dimensions, be aware that doing so is at your own risk due to potential slight variations in manufacturing measurements. Ensure precise matching by using our integrated ordering system to guarantee compatibility and fit.

When the unit of measure says “pair” that means two hinges. Usually you need one pair of hinges per door. When the unit of measure says “each” that means one hinge. You would usually order 2 “each” hinges per door.
I want to replace my hinges. How do I make sure the screw holes on the new hinge match the screw holes on the old hinge so I do not have to redrill the holes?
I want to replace my hinges. How do I make sure the screw holes on the new hinge match the screw holes on the old hinge so I do not have to redrill the holes?
Unfortunately, hinge manufacturers have never standardized the location of their screw hole patterns. Every manufacturer puts their screw holes in a slightly different place. This means that when you replace hinges you will almost certainly have to do some filling and redrilling. The exception to this is Architectural door hinges which are built to a standardized template for each size hinge.
