If you need a heavy-duty barrel hinge for your gates, the zinc chromate heavy-duty bolt or weld-on hinge offers great versatility. These hinges are designed for your heaviest gates on either commercial or residential property. Equip your existing gates with these extremely durable and long-lasting hinges for years of use.
The heavy-duty bolt or weld-on hinge, zinc chromate option can be used in both weld-on and bolt-on applications. Measuring 6" tall, this steel hinge has a 1 - 7/8" barrel, which contributes to the high weight rating of 3,000 lbs. To get the 3,000 lb. weight rating, you will need to use Grade 5 or better 3/8" bolts. The hinge will have a very small install gap between the fence and post, which can be altered depending on how you mount it. If welded, the gap can be as small as half an inch. If you choose to bolt it, this gap can be as small as 5/8". The head size of your bolts will affect this gap too. Depending on the thickness of your gate, these hinges are capable of opening up to 180 degrees, which is ideal for farms, manufacturing facilities, gated water access, and other places where this type of clearance is needed. For a barrel hinge that can do it all, choose the heavy-duty bolt or weld-on hinge, zinc chromate option.

I want to replace my hinges. How do I make sure the screw holes on the new hinge match the screw holes on the old hinge so I do not have to redrill the holes?
I want to replace my hinges. How do I make sure the screw holes on the new hinge match the screw holes on the old hinge so I do not have to redrill the holes?
Unfortunately, hinge manufacturers have never standardized the location of their screw hole patterns. Every manufacturer puts their screw holes in a slightly different place. This means that when you replace hinges you will almost certainly have to do some filling and redrilling. The exception to this is Architectural door hinges which are built to a standardized template for each size hinge.
