- Note: The sizes listed as the pintle diameter" (for example 3/4" pintle) are nominal dimensions, meaning they do not measure exactly that dimension. Use our nominal dimension to match up our straps with our bolts, etc. when you are ordering our products. If you order one of our products to match a pintle diameter of something that you already own, you do so at your own risk.
- The bolt and strap for this hinge are separate components. Please make sure to select the appropriate and matching size for each. The pintle sizes available for these components are 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 7/8".
- The upright pintle is part of our pintle system of gate hinges.
- The weight ratings listed are for one hinge. For example, if the listed weight rating is 100 lbs. and you install 2 hinges, your 2 hinges would be rated at 200 lbs.
- One hinge consists of one strap and one bolt. You would normally order two of each to hang one gate or door.
- The straps are normally installed using carriage bolts (not included).
- Two washers and two nuts are included with each bolt ordered.

A bolt and strap pintle hinge is a type of pintle hinge that is used to secure heavy doors or gates. It consists of a bolt that is attached to the frame or post and a strap that is attached to the door or gate. The strap has a hole or slot that allows it to slide over the bolt, which provides a secure and stable pivot point for the door or gate.
There are several reasons why someone might choose to use a bolt and strap pintle hinge:
-
Strength and durability: Bolt and strap pintle hinges are very strong and durable, which makes them well-suited for heavy doors or gates. They can support a lot of weight and are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions.
-
Security: Because bolt and strap pintle hinges are so strong and secure, they can be used to help prevent unauthorized access to a property. They are often used on gates or doors that need to be locked or secured in some way.
-
Aesthetics: Bolt and strap pintle hinges can add a decorative touch to a door or gate. They are available in a range of styles and materials, including wrought iron and brass, which can complement different architectural styles.
-
Ease of installation: Bolt and strap pintle hinges are relatively easy to install and can be adjusted to ensure that the door or gate is level and swings smoothly.
Overall, bolt and strap pintle hinges are a good choice for anyone who needs a strong, secure, and durable hinge for a heavy door or gate. They are also well-suited for applications where aesthetics and ease of installation are important considerations.

Some of your hinges are sold by the each and some sell by the pair. What is the difference?
When the unit of measure says “pair” that means two hinges. Usually you need one pair of hinges per door. When the unit of measure says “each” that means one hinge. You would usually order 2 “each” hinges per door.
I want to replace my hinges. How do I make sure the screw holes on the new hinge match the screw holes on the old hinge so I do not have to redrill the holes?
I want to replace my hinges. How do I make sure the screw holes on the new hinge match the screw holes on the old hinge so I do not have to redrill the holes?
Unfortunately, hinge manufacturers have never standardized the location of their screw hole patterns. Every manufacturer puts their screw holes in a slightly different place. This means that when you replace hinges you will almost certainly have to do some filling and redrilling. The exception to this is Architectural door hinges which are built to a standardized template for each size hinge.
